My new Seattle apt for today

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/apa/660380776.html

Ok, not really. It's too small for both of our kitties, they'd form little kitty gangs, and start kitty warfare. But, it's lovely, isn't it?

If you are living in Eugene

This bothers me - it's divisive, makes assumptions I wouldn't want made about me, and lordy it makes me ashamed to be an Oregonian. I understand that it's not malicious, but I do think it's misguided, and a real step backwards for the UO.

The video is fairly skewed, I recommend reading the Emerald article also (yes, yes, I know, The Emerald? but really, this time they did an Ok job.)

If you go out in the woods today....

View of ferries, lots of light, walk to down town. It just needs paint!

Sorry for all the apt listings, I will probably delete these posts when we find out if Erik got the job or not :)

Saturday

I spent most of Friday reading The Secret Life of Bees. I thought it would be like The Secret Life of Plants - which is full of cool stuff about plants. I was really confused when what I thought was an anecdote about how the author first became interested in bees; never ended. But, it's a very good book, and I very much recommend it. I also read Nextwave, watched Grey's Anatomy, reorganized and tidied up my Netflix cute, and got mojito sorbetto at Sweetlife with Erik.

Saturday morning I got up early and painted the kitchen. Hanu and Erik slept in.

Then we went to the Saturday market, and up to Hendrix park for a picnic with Richard. Richard recently got a camera very much like Erik's, so he was totally willing to wander around taking photos with us. Afterwards, I went to see 27 dresses with Asha. It's not really my type of movie, but at least it wasn't a damsel in distress rom com. It was kind of fun. And, we went shoe shopping after - Asha is old enough to shop with now. This is a revelation. Next weekend we're going back. I am *so* excited to have a shopping buddy again. That night, Erik and I watched the two towers - we're rewatching the lord of the rings series. It's so fun.

Here are the pictures from the park. Overall, I have a mixed relationship with flowers. They are so pretty, and I think i take pretty pictures of them, but I also feel bored and disappointed with my pictures. like the flowers are the ones doing all the work, and I haven't added anything by taking it's picture. Of course, every once in a while I break down and take a bunch anyway.

Congratulations Jason

Congratulations Jason! Jason sold a story, hopefully (knock on wood) two! It sounds like a rad comic, and I can't wait to read it

Well...

I suppose I've been outed. I wasn't really ready, but I guess it was inevitable. I was originally trying to keep this a bit under wraps, until we knew more fur sure, until I had something to say for sure. If you didn't know, don't feel bad, not very many people did.

Erik is interviewing for a job at the Seattle public library tomorrow, at 3:30. He's already left. He is very qualified, and they seemed excited about him, but it's also highly competitive, so I have no idea what's going to happen. It's seriously starting to stress me out.... Not being able to make long term plans. Not knowing what will happen in the next month. Not having a job prospect my self. The fact that we might need to buy a car. Wondering if anyone will visit us. The mix of complaints and advice and guilt and disapproval and blessed support we've received so far. Wondering if I went back to a natural color for nothing, and should have just kept my pink hair and our Eugene apt, and stayed with our friends, and not rocked the boat. Wondering if I'll be able be happy if we don't find jobs, and do stay here, and nothing changes.

Because I'm me, and I have to plan, I've made contingency plans on various outcomes, and analyzed our options.

It's not really helping.

And yes, we got Erik a new grey suit, a purple polka dotted tie, block cap shoes that were picked out by a very possibly Real Pimp, and a cool black/brown reversible belt.

We've researched the bejesus out of the woman he's interviewing with, and talked abotu what's important in interviews.

We've compared the Seattle Public library to the University of Washington to no end, and perhaps unsuccessfully.

I've taken the cat to the vet, and am taking advantage of my medical and dental, and cleaned my desk at work. I've picked out "our new apartment" 3 or 4 times, and decided exactly what I'll do to console myself if it doesn't work out.

I'm very proud of Erik for all the effort an preparation he's put into this, no matter what happens.

22.75 hours to interview, and counting....

I suppose this counts as the sort of rant I said I wouldn't do when I started this blog. Sorry folks.

Thursday

Thursday I took the day off work. It was a vacation day I had requested long ago, but I still felt sick, so I lay around the house and read for most of the day. I'm trying to read Eragon and remain open minded, but the writing style seems so pompous and unemotional to me. It's monochromatic - the tone, the dialog, the characters and feelings. one big flat even line. But, it's a rich world with interesting magic... so as I said, open minded.

Lately I've become overly critical of writing and it makes it hard for me to find that I enjoy. So this is good for me.

...

When Erik got home from work, we went suit shopping. I don't have any pictures of our picks for you yet, although I may ask Erik to model them for us when the tailoring is done.

It was the first summery feeling day of the year. I know summer is a ways off, but I think your supposed to be able to imagine it in the spring. And Thursday, I could.

Everyone on the bus had pigtails.

Everything looks more glorious in the sunset.

Friday I took Hanu to the vet. She freaked out on the way there - I think she's becoming agoraphobic. I had to take her out of the carrier and carry her, and her carrier the last 3 blocks. When I got there, the receptionist berated me for carrying her. What If I she had gotten away? Hit by a car? I wanted to explain that she wasn't trying to get away, she was clinging to me. But, I let it drop.

Our new vet is Named Dr. Tran. I have a co-worker who will be pleased to hear this. She's nice, and gentle, and Hanu aced her exam. Healthy fur, ears, nails; clean teeth, good eyesight, lost 6 oz. Sweet temperament. I bought lots of kitty stuff - mostly relaxation products to encourage peaceful relations between her and Aketa.

This morning we're making cupcakes, and then going to two birthday parties. That's a lot of birthdaying.

Exciting new comic artist

This is in my blog rool, even tho it's not really a blog.

His site is messy, it kinda drives me nuts. Many of his comics continue in different places. But, he's brilliant, it's worth poking around. The link below is one of his series put together.

Love makes me happy too.

Green bedroom?

I want to paint my bedroom these colors. It'll be kind of a consolation prize... although not quite consolation enough for giving up my lovely colorful hair.

Ah, springy and fresh. I know there's a fear of colors that are on the "minty" scale, but I do love it.

Also, welcome to April!
