Lavender sugar

I've been doing better about posting recipes latley, but you can't use them if you don't have all of the ingredients. And the most important ingredient of all is lavender sugar.

So, Go pick some fresh lavender. Maybe A dozen clubs for a mid-small jar. Less if you like your lavender subtle, more if you like it lavender-y.

Put the clubs in a jar of white sugar, and set it aside.

In 2-3 weeks, we'll be making lavender cupcakes!

Fresh zucchini salad

I don't recommend this unless you have a mandoline....

-ultra finely sliced zucchini
-ultra finely sliced leek
-a teaspoon full of mayonnaise (grapeseed oil vegenaise - even if you're not a vegan, trust me, it's better)
-pinch of sea salt
-several dashes of dill
-a small sprinkle of garlic salt
-diced nasturtium
-cracked pepper

Toss.

YUM. There's no picture because I ate it all.

Erik's breadless cucumber sandwhichlet

I was sitting here zoning out when erik walked up and popped something wondrous into my mouth.

Thinly sliced cumber
diced nasturtium
diced basil flower
sea salt

Go try it. It's pretty too (those red things you see are just for decoration).

Glass noodles

Glass noodles are made of potato starch. they are my new magic food. They have little taste, no color, and are super clear (These are have a bit of color - the grey - because they are made from sweet potatoes).

But these noodles are so springy chewy stretchy awesome. It may just be me? If you try them, let me know what you think :) They go great with terityaki.

Strawberry shortcake

This is my new favorite thing.

-1 shortbread cookie (vegan, if you prefer. They make some rockin good vegan cookies)
-Whipped cream (it's not too hard to find vegan or mostly vegan whipped cream, check the ingredients on a few brands. You'll be surprised.)
-5 to 10 strawberries (or, if you dislike strawberries - your fruit of choice)
-1 to 2 teaspoons limoncello
-1 to 1/2 teaspoon lavender sugar

You'll probably have to make the lavender sugar, unless you know something I don't know. Just grab a small tupperware, or yogurt container. Throw some fresh or dried lavender in it, and sugar. Fresh lavender works better, if you can find it. Let it sit for a day for fresh lavender, or a few days for dry. It's not a bad idea to keep a container of this around. Sift out sugar as needed.

Wash and cut the strawberries. I've been cutting them into thin wide slices.

Cut the shortbread cookie lengthwise, so you have 2 thinner cookies.

Put the cookies in your bowl, and splash the lemoncello over them. If there is too much, and the lemoncello pools at the bottom, poor out the excess. The cookies will get soggy soon, so you want to eat this fresh.

scoop on a little whipped cream, sprinkle with strawberry slices, more whipped cream, more strawberries. For me, it's about the whipped cream - I use the strawberries sparingly.

Dust with lavender sugar.

Enjoy!
