Wedding inspiration

If we could somehow get the whole reception to look kind of like this, I will be happy.

Erik's ring

Erik's ring came last Nov, but I didn't want to burn everyone out on wedding talk, so I waited to post it :)

It's a 2.5mm half round band, made of hammered 14k gold, with a satin finish. He has big knucles, so it fit perfectly once we got it on - but it's probably never coming off. Sometimes I feel guilty that we put it on him, but he seems to be fine with it. I guess we all reach an age where we're so comfortable with commitment, that we're fine wearing a ring we can never take off? Or maybe we're just really ready to be married.

Kate Szabone made his band to match my grey opaque diamond ring. Once again, I have to say, she is so awesome. Go check her out.

Snow, please come back.

We miss you.

Cats and String

Post x-mas, playing with cats & string. The string was so striking, and the light so nice, and the kitties were so expressive... I took way way too many pictures. Wasn't sure how to narrow them down, until I noticed the eye contact pictures. They are so serious, even wrapped up in these squiggling strings. I knew I had my set.

Everyone seems to be confused.

This is WINTER. Its gets colder, it gets darker; things turn grey, and wither. Or they hibernate, or die back, or even end their little annual cycles, and perish. It is most certainly not make little cheery flowers season. We all seem to be a little confused about this around here.

We heart the indoor sun shop

The indoor sun shoppe in Fremont is one of our all time favorites. They specialize in orchids, tillandsias, carnivorous plants, and they have a large selection of generic tropical plants too, tucked away in the back somewhere. Our most recent purchases include three miniature orchids. Somewhere along the way, without realizing it, we became orchid people. Maybe it's the natural evolution of all of us phytophiles.

An evening walk along the Fremont Canal

On our way to the indoor sun shop, strolling along the canal. Most Seattle neighborhoods are boardered by some sort of body of water, but there is something cozy and calming about this stretch of the canal. Among my top ten dream jobs, is working on the draw bridge, in one of those little towers.

Capitol Hill bead shop

There is a little bead shop on Capitol hill I love to poke my nose in. I don't bead much anymore, but the shop & beads are so lovely, and the people are the best. They usually leave us alone while we browse, and say hello before we go, but never pressure us to buy anything.

Also, here is a gratuitous picture of a Ferry. I can never resist.

Merry christmas & happy new year!

Merry christmas & happy new year from Mel & Erik! This year we are wishing for more unicorns, more sunny days, more spontaneity, and maybe a little good health for our economy. We are thankful for loving supportive friends, accepting family, our cute little apartment, beautiful plants, fat kitties, and most of all, each other. Even without the unicorns, it will be a good year :)

(Not that we're saying no to unicorns, of course)
