Weekend in Eugene

I'm going to be in Eugene, for all of a day and a half, for Asha's birthday. I've got plans to see a few people, but I won't be able to see everyone. I'm trying to keep it rotating, considering I never have time to see everyone.

Please don't be offended, I wish I had more time! And you are all welcome to come stay with us <3

Mel

Golden leaves

These are from the arboretum, this Fall. But, I figured we could all use them about now.

This is where I work

The Magnuson Health Sciences Building is the world's largest single university building and the United States' second largest office building, both based on total square footage, with a total floor area of 5,740,200 square feet (533,280 m2). (The Pentagon is the largest building by floor area in the United States.)

It's really ugly.

Snowflakes

It's been years since I've seen honest to goodness snow flakes, but on our way home from breakfast Sunday, we got covered in these puppies. If you're wondering, I took all of these photos on my hat. If I had it to do over again, I would have made generous use of a tripod, and been a little more careful with the focus. But at the time, I was freezing!

That lovely lady, Suzzallo

Suzzallo has been well photographed. I'm sure you could do a web search and find better pics than these. But, I still wanted to share this, one of the campus' lovelier features. (ahem, Sam and Rosei, I hope you're paying attention ;)

Glass noodles

Glass noodles are made of potato starch. they are my new magic food. They have little taste, no color, and are super clear (These are have a bit of color - the grey - because they are made from sweet potatoes).

But these noodles are so springy chewy stretchy awesome. It may just be me? If you try them, let me know what you think :) They go great with terityaki.

A rare sunny morning

I have been a bit preoccupied with the weather lately.

New table from craigslist

So, we've found our house, our kitchen table, a lovely gold velvet and black chair, and now our dining room table on craigslist. Now if craigslist would only cough up a lovely little couch....

The table is lovely. These are the pics that went with the posting (I'll take some of my own once I pick up all the paint swatches spread across the dining room). It's much bigger than it looks here - we only have 4 chairs, but it could fit 8. The distressed black is lovely, very well done. It works really well with the 2 tones of wood we have in the dining room. And, it's tall - the perfect crafting height. We just need to get a table cloth to protect it!

Happy Birthday Emmy!

Emmy is my oldest friend. We've known each other since before we could talk. She is a true blue friend.

Emmy, I hope you're having a wonderful birthday! And thanks for being willing to drive up here on your special day!

p.s. Isn't 6th grade everyone's most attractive year? Sorry I couldn't find a cute one of us when we were really little..... next time I'm in Eugene I'll raid Ravi's photo album :)

Foggy nights

I haven't been blogging much lately. I don't really have a reason/excuse, except maybe that I've fallen into a bit of a winter haze.

But, I have lots to catch up on now. Erik got a new camera, so I have his old one. It's pretty rad - I actually like the old one a bit better, so I;m pretty much in heaven. and now I can do a few daily series I've been wanting to experiment with. Now, if I could just have a few daylight hours, I'd be all set.

So, Seattle has had some of the most amazing foggy days lately. The type where you loose tree branches, and the other side of the street. I love the fog - it's my second favorite type of weather - right after snow, and right above raining while the sun is shining.

These were taken on my way to and from work - not exactly premo stuff.
