Finished quilt

It's got a great drape. The muslin is a little see-through, but I was too lazy to back it... so it's my bad :) Maybe next time.

Green pink and white quilt update

Last Saturday, I finished the top piece, and added on the edges (well, most of them). After I took these photos, I decided the white boarders were too much, and tore a few inches off each. But, I'm liking it, I'm liking it a lot.

Today I'm off to buy a batting, so I can put all of the pieces together! Hopefully she'll be done soon.

These colors might look familiar...

I've started a new quilt. I've finally broker away from a mono-chromatic squares design, much to Erik's delight. The new diamonds have turned out so perfectly, I think I will be using more of them. And I love the un-bleached cotton, breaking up the colors and prints. It's moving fast, so there shoudl be more updates on this pretty little thing soon.

Rainbow quilt, el fin

baboon stitching....

Maybe it's just me, because I've starred at the damn thing so much, but I think the quilting helps a lot. The top piece seems a lot more interesting with a little more texture.

The cats love the quilt to an almost unhealthy extent. Aketa tried to crawl in it before one edge was pined down, and just lying on it makes them purr.

Friday

Today was a good day.

Our house is so pretty when the sun is out

I finished the top part of my quilt. I was worried it would be too big, but it's a good size. I'm a bit unsettled with the result in the yellows and greens - I like the way the blues and oranges turned out much better.

Erik and I went out to dinner at Sweet Basil. I got the yummiest drink in the world - a Sunny Siam. You should try it if you get the chance.

Now we're off to sweetlife.

Good night!

Quilty progress

It's nearly done. All the squares are in rows, and almost all of the rows are sewn together. there are just 3 more down at the bottom that need to be attached to the main piece. Unfortunately, I sewed row 7 upside down (don't ask me how - they're all clearly marked on the back). So, last night I took out the seems, and I resewed it this morning. I learned that taking out seems takes a lot more work than putting them in. there must be an easier way.

Saturday

Friday night I went to The Vintage with friends for drinks. We decided to make it just the girls, which was nice for a change. I had a blast.

Afterwards, we drunkenly rolled out my quilt, and proceeded to pick out our favorite squares, and talk color. This motivated me to finish the design, despite the cloudy weather (I've only been quilting on sunny days, for no good reason).

So, Saturday I woke up bright and early, and finished the design. I had had Erik pick me up a few new shades of green earlier that week, the greens having been a little weak.

Then we had breakfast together, occasionally interrupted by me darting into the other room to swap a square or two. (I discovered yellow animal cookies when I went to Roseburg with Jen!)

After all that work puting the squares in order, we neatly stacked them back up again. Grrrr.

Erik rearranged the computer room, and I now have a sewing station. He makes me so happy :)

Next we went to the paint store. I want to paint the shelves in the kitchen old lady rose, and bright gold to go with our old timey mint green. It sounds weird, right? I think it's perfect :)

I kind of want a yellow house.

Sunday the sun came out. I did not want to go to work. I cracked at the last minute, thinking of poor Jen opening up the library all cranky with the crazed finals week students.

These are some of the things that sparkle in our house when the sun shines.
