Happy new year!

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything! We've had a very busy Fall, and in the coming months have decided to take it easy on travel & visitors. So, I thought it would be a good time to start up with this blog again.

I may have posts in the next few weeks about our travels, but for now, I just want to show you the thank you cards I made today. The water color paper was really tricky! it was very prone to bleeding. So, some were a little wonky, but I really like others.

These are the flowers Erik brought me when he picked me up at the airport a couple of weeks ago. I don't usually draw from life, but I was very inspired by their pretty lines and fading colors.

I also decided to try to draw this cactus for some reason!

Others include overipe kiwi's clinging to a winter vine, a dandelion clock, somewhat blurry beets, a hugley fanned gingko, medlars, pears, medlars and pears again, a giant radish, a unicorn, and one more kiwi vine.

Breakfast sandwhich

A twist on the classic butter and cucumber sandwhich :

2 slices of bread
thinly sliced avocado
thinly sliced apricot
thinly sliced cucumber
salt (sea salt preferred)
Cracked pepper (don't be shy with it)
balsamic vinegar
butter

Yumm.

It's called getting carried away

And I do it so well.

After my relative success with the apple and pear for Jessie, I wanted to make a couple- oh wait, make that 7 -more pincushions... whoops.

Cutting out the pieces for 5 at once

Another one here, this one is for Michele

Notching the seams is the hardest/most annoying part... I really want some pinking shears!!

I have a little problem with buying crazy cute pins....

They aren't all finished yet, as you can see... they take a while, and I usually have Erik help with the hand sewing bits because I am really, really, a machine sewing kind of girl. I'll post little cameos of each of them as they are completed... if they are completed....

Birthday gifts continued....

Also for Jessie, because she's so very cool, and I knew she'd appreciate, I finally figured out how to make the Heather Bailey apple and pear pincushions.

Uwajimaya

So, when we have guests, we get out and do a lot of things. And I take pictures of those things, and put them into blogs. But I realized, the one thing we've done with every single set of guests, is go to Uwajimaya, and I have never taken pictures there.

So here you are, if you haven't visited us yet, here's your incentive ;)

Fuyu persimmons are my all time favorite.

like Japanese chia-pet-like things. Totally redonk, and adorable.

Lotus root. Michele discovered lotus root fries at the teapot - very tasty.

Just one small bit of a yellow fruit section. I love people who understand color... and it's a shame they didn't get their way with the whole produce section.

Fragrant sure, but edible? who knows.

Banana flower.

Good health vinegar! Available in 4 tasty health flavors.

Sake! In 5 ba-trillion flavors... I recommend the lychee. Lychee is an odd flavor, but it's very becoming on sake.

What is this???

My favorite dino-drinks! I brought Asha one, and she named it Princess Melon Gut. I have the raddest little sis evar :)

These are like big rectangular sushi's. My favorite is the shiso flavor, but they have a couple other vegetarian flavors that are also quite fab. I bought a bunch of pickled veggies in rainbow colors, so we can try making these for lunch!

These pretty shimmery fabric lanterns were everywhere, I want to get some for the bedroom.

Cute snacks take over the world! But really, they kind of do.

Flavors: kumquat, quince, red cabbage, safflower. They all taste like sugar. Yum!

Adorable Japanese nail polishes, in every color you can think of (not just nude's and reds and pinks!). Asha, that blue one is for you!
