Erik's ring
Erik's ring came last Nov, but I didn't want to burn everyone out on wedding talk, so I waited to post it :)
It's a 2.5mm half round band, made of hammered 14k gold, with a satin finish. He has big knucles, so it fit perfectly once we got it on - but it's probably never coming off. Sometimes I feel guilty that we put it on him, but he seems to be fine with it. I guess we all reach an age where we're so comfortable with commitment, that we're fine wearing a ring we can never take off? Or maybe we're just really ready to be married.
Kate Szabone made his band to match my grey opaque diamond ring. Once again, I have to say, she is so awesome. Go check her out.

omg sparkeliest ring evar
My ring came in the mail today! I ordered it from Kate Szabone, and I couldn't recommend her more. Everything she makes is so delicate, all of her diamonds are conflict free, and she let me fuss over every little detail.
Guys, diamonds are so sparkly. They really are! I've never been that excited about the clear white ones, I didn't see what the big deal was. Bridesmaids!
I've been keeping busy the last few weeks with projects. this is one I've been dying to post about, and now that I've heard back from everyone, I can!
I've been working on my bridesmaid invitations since march. I wanted them to be something special, that people could keep. I chose poppies and ranunculus because they will hopefully be my wedding flowers! Each one has a pocket on the back, with a personalized letter. I totally cried while writing the letters, these lovely ladies mean so much to me.
I personalized each one, too. They are all a little different, for various reasons like fabric size, learning as I went, and who I was designing for.
This one is for my little sister Asha! She's not into my whites yellows and oranges at all. So I did some soft peachy pinky colors, and worked in some cool colors. Looking at it reminds me of her somehow.
This one is for my cousin Sam. We've been very close since she was little, and she's more like a sister. She loves bright colors, and so I love the fiery reds and oranges for her. And I HAD to put the unicorn on the back.
This one is for my good friend Rosei. It's not a "best friend" thing, I don't think I could say that I have a best friend, unless it was Erik. But I always know I can talk to her about anything, and I love how supportive of each other we've become (we've been friends since we were 13!). So, I figured she had to be a bridesmaid.
I was thinking classic, Modern, Mad Men-esque for hers. I love the dots, the bold yellow, the dusty rose color. And it was hers that gave me the idea for the little loops on each. She's so wonderful about putting up things that people make for her all over her house. It always makes me smile to see pictures of her place!
And, last but not least, they all agreed. I'm so excited!

Wedding website
I was planning on saving this for a little while longer, but I seem to have accidentally published our engagement photos, so here we go!
This is our lovely wedding website. I'm very pleased with it, and was very lucky to have found one with such nice layout options. It's still under construction. In fact, there's not much there, except a few pretty pictures, and a pretty layout. Speaking of - does anyone want to write my bio for me?
Also, please note : THE WEDDING DATE HAS NOT BEEN SET. I had to make one up in order to make the site. We are almost certainly NOT getting married on Aug 1. It's a Monday. Who wants to get married on a Monday? Nobody. That's just an invitation for things to go wrong. So please don't circle your calender, or buy plane tickets, or even think about it being on that day. Cool? Cool.

Wonderful friends
A couple of days ago I came home to a sweet little package on our front porch. My friend Rosei put it together, and she is a master of the care package. It's not the first time I have photographed the unwrapping of one of her gifts, they are always just so special and magical.

A little info about wedding planning
I have been amazed by 2 things over the last week. The first is how many people love Erik and I, and the lovely things they've had to say to both of us. The second, is that the first question everyone has is whether we've set a date... Even when it was only two days after the engagement. Don't most people find a venue first? I'm confused about this.
Don't get me wrong. I'm glad everyone is excited for our wedding! I am too. I was in fact worried that people wouldn't care much, since we dated for so long first. And, mostly, I was dead wrong. So thank you for asking :)
But, it's going to be a little while. With the economy as it is, and our somewhat expensive house, and a bit too much traveling, and no trust fund for this sort of thing, we're going to have to save our money carefully. And if you want to make a little donation to the wedding fund for holiday and birthday presents, that is very much an option.
The loose plan is to gather ideas and save money during 2010. Hell, I've been gathering ideas from creative and lovely weddings for a long long time, so this isn't terribly different. Somewhere around the new year, we work out a budget, and start making decisions. I love the idea of an august wedding in 2011 - but that is an idea, not a decision :) In the mean time, here are a few ideas I thought you might like to hear about:
My dad suggested this lavender farm we visited last summer - you can rent out the whole house, and the lavender farms are filled with a wonderful light refreshing scent of lavender. These are a couple of pictures I took while we were there:
Or we could have a windy wedding, on Kite Hill. With billowy bridesmaid dresses, kite flying, and ribbons for kids.
And decoration themes perhaps in fruit,
and paper.
Both of which are things that Erik and I love, would allow us to be very creative, and would be inexpensive!
I already want to make everything myself :) I know I'm going to have to pick and choose my projects carefully! There are so many good ones, and eventually, there will be so little time. I will probably wind up doing as much on my own as I can, and spending all of our saved up money on flowers, food, and a venue.
There are a few things I can tell you that are certainites. For many good reasons, it will be a small wedding. I'd really love to invite everyone, but I know myself and Erik, and this is going to have to be an itty bitty one. The second is that it will be somewhere outside - in the pudget sound area. Washington, or perhaps Canada. The fourth is the time of year. It will be sometime when flowers are in season. I am a plant junkie, and I am totally willing to let my addiction run the show. The fourth is that it will be awesome. Otherwise, why bother?

Everyone should invite me to their wedding
Lots of pictures of Robyn's wedding on myspace. Most of our pictures were of children, and I'm not posting Asha pictures here. There's no password protection, and I know of too many bad people who abuse the internet. But, feel free to check them out on myspace, and I may post an edited few here later.
